Some Insight From A Old Shutterbug
Where has all the film gone? Why digital photography has destroyed the art and the reasons behind it..A personal insight.
Who remembers film photography? Polaroid, 110, 126 and then 35mm that is where it all began for me. I guess I was about 8 when I shot my first pictures and have never stopped. Instamatics, Pocket Cameras and my first 35mm Canon AE-1..Noisy shutter and all I still own and use it. Film was art, you didn't get 1000 chances and deleted your mistakes. You learned settings and focus. You worked to get those keeper shots..And along came digital and all it's baggage..
Like any new technology it started harmlessly and Photographers fought the future..It was blasphemy a curse. As time ticked by slowly we started to accept it, computers were getting faster, hard drives getting bigger and software improving. The cameras got better and advertising kicked in..Andre Agassi and the Canon Rebel started the revolution. The wildfire began and grew to where we are today..Let's talk about the treachery that is ruining photography..Let's talk about the two main factors we face today .
